FINER urges Nagaland to showcase food products at world event
DIMAPUR — Considering the prospect of Naga foods in connection global stakeholders, the vice president of Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER), Rajeev Agarwal, has urged the Nagaland government to participate in the upcoming World Food India event by showcasing the unique food products of the state through a dedicated pavilion.
Speaking at the seminar on Agro Processing Cluster Development, organised by the Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) under the aegis of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, at Hotel Lake Shilloi in Dimapur on Friday, Agarwal expressed optimism that Nagaland’s participation in the event would yield fruitful results and foster valuable connections with global stakeholders.
An update from FINER stated that Kiyelu Yeptho from the department of Commerce and Industries made a presentation on the Prime Minister’s Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme by highlighting its key components.
It was followed with a presentation by Lucy Ngouri, wherein she encouraged the department to explore various schemes and subsidies available to support agro processing ventures. She informed that the government of Nagaland, in particular, is laying emphasis on pickle making and dehydrated food products, which hold immense potential for growth and development in the region.
During the technical session, Rajani Kanta Deuri from Grant Thornton (GT) shared valuable insights on the agro processing cluster scheme by offering a comprehensive understanding of its benefits and implications, while Gunin Roy, a millet specialist from ARIAS Society, shed light on the significance of millet production and processing.
Additionally, Temjenwabang from the department of Horticulture delivered a talk on the horticulture scenario in the state.
Report stated that the seminar proved to be an enlightening platform for all participants to exchange knowledge and ignite innovative ideas in the agro processing sector.
It further stated that FINER would remain committed to empowering the North eastern region through such initiatives.
The programme was attended by government officials, local entrepreneurs, and stakeholders.
