Financial literacy camp held at Khonoma

Dimapur, Jan. 28: One-day financial literacy camp was conducted for women of Khonoma village, on January 27, by Nagaland state social Welfare Board, NMDFC, SRCW, supported under FIF and managed by NABARD.
The camp was organized to equip the women folk in enabling them to improve and promote sustainable and equitable agriculture and rural development.
Resource person from NABARD, Bendanng Aier, AGM, shared the importance on financial planning and elaborated on proper financial planning, which will help to set short and long terms financial goals and proper utilization of finance and in setting their goals which clarify their ideas to focus on their wants and needs.
Stressing on digital payment and cashless transaction and encouraged the participants to use ‘smart goals’ for financial goals. He further highlighted the social security schemes and its benefits.
Assistant Branch Manager, IC, Nodal centre Kohima NSCB Ltd. Kevi Hibo shared on significance of banking. He said banking sector is the best channel to give awareness on various government scheme to the rural areas.
Chairperson, NSSWB, Bano Vinito Chishi, shared on the topic “My concern for women Self Help group and entrepreneur”. She cited some successful stories of how women were able to improve their socio-economic status and their increasing income. She encouraged the women to continue Self Help Group (SHG) and to avail loans in establishing their own enterprise.
Cerina Belho gave a brief introduction on Women Help Line 181 One Stop centre and Child Line 1098.
Project Manager, NSSWB, Asalie A Kruse, in her keynote address, highlighted the activities of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
