Dimapur, June 27 (EMN):
Ministry of Finance has refuted an office memorandum (OM) on the resumption of dearness allowances to Central government employees and dearness relief to Central government pensioners from July 2021 onwards.

The office memorandum went viral on social media on Sunday with the subject “resumption of dearness allowances to central government employees and dearness relief to central government pensioners from July 2021”.

The OM stated that “the undersigned is directed to say that the Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief frozen during Covid-19 crisis is to be resumed from 1st July 2021. The additional instalments of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief due from 1st July 2020 and 1st July 2021 shall be paid in three instalments. These orders shall be applicable to all central government employee and central government pensioners”.

The document was in the name of TV Somnathan, Finance Secretary of India with the signature.

Soon after the OM went viral, the Ministry of Finance issued a clarification on its official Twitter handle that the OM was ‘fake’.

“A document is doing rounds on social media claiming resumption of DA to Central Government employees & Dearness Relief to Central Government pensioners from July 2021.  This Office OM is fake. No such OM has been issued by GoI”, the Ministry of Finance clarified.
