‘Fight for plastic-free, hygienic and clean Kohima’

Kohima, Sep. 27 (EMN): The Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire urged for unity and peaceful co-existence at the inaugural function of Ward-17 New Panchayat Hall, Kohima on September 27.

“Let this be hall of understanding for the people of Ward-17 which will also represent all the other wards in Kohima,” said Kire.

He urged the people to look forward and think of what will be beneficial for the society irrespective of the communities, and to collectively live in peace. He also appealed to the gathering to be passionate about development and work together.

The advisor advised the gathering to fight for plastic-free, hygienic and clean Kohima, asking them keep a small bag in their respective vehicles and cars to avoid spitting on the road and littering waste. He said that one has to be responsible for one’s own waste to keep Kohima clean and beautiful.

The convenor of the Construction Committee, T Sany Pongener revealed while presenting a report that INR 25, 24, 745 was spent for the construction of New Panchayat Hall and extended gratitude to all the people of the ward for their generous contribution.

Himato Zhimomi, Principal Secretary, Urban Development and additional charge of Municipal Affairs, spoke about the Swachchta Hi Seva and sought the active participants of the masses to eliminate single-use plastic. The administrator of Kohima Municipal Council and Chief Executive of Smart City Project Kohima, Kovi Meyase also spoke at the event.
