FGN dissolves Sumi region

DIMAPUR — Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has dissolved the Sumi region under the leadership of interim Midan Peyu, Akavi Chishi, for an indefinite period.

This was declared by the FGN acting Kedahge, Namrikiu, allegedly for failing to carry out the responsibility of Sumi region establishment under the NNC and FGN and for joining hands with conspirators and anti-national forces by attending and endorsing the unconstitutional meeting on September 23 at K Basa village.

It added that the Sumi region would only be reconstituted with the mandate of Sumi people.

Regional councils clarify stand

Meanwhile, several FGN/NNC regional councils have denounced what it termed as ‘unconstitutional’ the meeting at K Basa village on September 23 and affirmed support to the leadership of NNC president, Gen. (retired) Thinosilie M Keyho, and FGN acting president, Namrikiu.

While upholding the plebiscite of May 16, 1951, Chekhesang region of the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has affirmed to continue to defend Naga sovereignty under the leadership of NNC president, Gen. (retired) Thinoselie M Keyho, and acting president of FGN, Namrikiu. The midan peyu of FGN Chakhesang region, Serapra Shijo, appeal to its people not to be misled or confused by any anti-national elements at any point of time.

The NNC of Angami regional council has opposed and rejected the unconstitutional meeting of NNC group at Khulazu Basa village on September 23. The Angami region council has affirmed to support the leadership of NNC president, Gen. (retire) Thinoselie M Keyho and continue to rally around his leadership always.

In a separate statement, Zeliang and Pochury regions of FGN have also affirmed to stand on August 14, 1947, declaration of Naga Independence and the Plebiscite of May 16, 1951. The FGN midan peyu of Zeliang region, Lodoubou Chawang, and the median peyu of Pochury region, Ayon, have affirmed to continue to work for Naga nation under the leadership of Gen. (retired) Thinoselie M Keyho, president of NNC, and Namrikiu, acting Kedahge of FGN.

Meanwhile, FGN of Konyak region regretted that two persons from the region attended the ‘anti-national’ meeting at K Basa on September 23. The FGN midan peyu of Konyak region, Hong Tong, clarified that they were not sent by the region and do not represent the Konyak region but on personal capacity.

While upholding the Plebiscite of May 16, 1951, he declared that Konyak region would continue to support and work under the leadership of Gen. (retired) Thinoselie Keyho, president of NNC, and Namrikiu, acting Kedahge of FGN.
