Festive decorations light up Dimapur
DIMAPUR — After a three-year lull due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Team Better Dimapur has resumed putting up Christmas decorations in the streets, intersections and shopping malls of Dimapur, adding an air of excitement and grandeur to the festive season.
Team Better Dimapur, in association with various government departments, civil society organisations, business community, district administration and churches, has taken the initiative to light up the city with festive decorations.
This year, the festive decorations are centred on the theme ‘Prince of Peace.’
Mhonjan Humtsoe, a member of Team Better Dimapur, said that before the Covid-19 pandemic, the team along with the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) had undertaken Christmas decorations for two years.
Team Better Dimapur, in consultation with the deputy commissioner and supported by government departments, business community and four churches – Town Baptist Church, Sumi Baptist Church; Ao Baptist Arogo and Lotha Baptist Church – is back in action.
The team has resumed decoration at 15 of the city’s main intersections, after works were halted for a couple of days due to inclement weather.
The Clock Tower, one of the major landmarks in Dimapur, was lighted up on Saturday (Dec.9) evening.
