Dimapur, June 19 (EMN): Fernwood School won the first prize in the ‘On-the-spot painting competition’ organised by the District Education Office, Kohima, in collaboration with the department of Science and Technology held on June 18 at Angamimiapfü Mechü Krotho (AMK) hall, Kohima, on the theme “Communicating Science for all.”
Oking Christian School and Charity School secured second and third positions respectively.
Team Fernwood School was represented by Imlitungzuk, Hivi and Lichoni all students of Class VIII with guide teacher Linika, while team Oking Christian School was represented by Metünüto Rhakha and Kükhrülü Medeo both students of Class VIII and Khriesangutuo Sorünuo of Class VI with guide teacher Rhüvi and team Charity School was represented by Chiklan of Class VII, Sazida and Mufliha both students of Class VIII with guide teacher Boho Achumi. The winners of the competition were awarded with certificate and cash prize.
Kohima DEO, Y Mary Zhimomi stated that the painting competition was a post event commemoration of the National Science Day 2019. Altogether, 42 students from 14 schools participated in the competition. The students were given privilege to select any one out of the 10 topics including ‘Science and technology for sustainable environment,’ ‘Science and technology in health and hygiene,’ ‘Urbanisation and climate change,’ ‘Science and technology in food security,’ ‘Sustainable agriculture,’ ‘Science and technology for specially-abled people,’ ‘Concept of smart city,’ ‘Reuse and recycle of resources,’ ‘Sustainable transport,’ and ‘Transportation and communication in future.’
