Fencing work to begin soon on Myanmar border — Manipur Governor

Imphal, April 28 (EMN): Manipur Governor La Ganesan expressed confidence that proper fencing work would start soon on the border line with Myanmar.
Addressing a gathering at Sadbhavna Mandap in Chakpikarong sub-divisional headquarters under Manipur’s Chandel district on Wednesday, the governor appealed to the people living in the border areas to give cooperation to the government.
‘We should cooperate with the government to stop any intruder coming into our state,” he said.
Reiterating that the governments at the Centre and the state were fully committed for all round development and welfare of the people, he said all governments are meant for the people and are also working for the people.
Hefurther said that a lot of progress has been seen in the last few years and many welfare schemes have also been introduced by the Centre, adding that benefits of such schemes have been directly reached to the people through Direct Benefit Transfer.
Stating that cleanliness would be the best way to fight against any form of diseases, the governor said, ‘we should always try to keep ourselves and our environment neat and clean. Next to cleanliness, vaccination should be our priority to fight the Covid pandemic. All should get at least two doses of Covid Vaccine so that we can fight it’.
Earlier, civil society organisations and village chiefs submitted a memorandum to the governor urging him to look into the grievances of the villagers.
Assuring that all possible help would be extended at the earliest, the governor who visited the district for the second time, also attended a tree plantation programme during the visit.
Chandel MLA S S Olish also attended the interaction programme, Deputy Commissioner(Chandel) M Rajkumar and Secretary to Governor Bobby Waikhom also attended the programme.
