Dimapur, Feb. 1 (EMN): Fazl Ali College bade farewell to its outgoing principal, S Arenla Longkumer, on January 31 held in its college auditorium at Chuchuyimpang in Mokokchung.
Speaking on the occasion, the outgoing principal, S Arenla Longkumer, thanked the Almighty God for guidance through the 34 years of active service. Stating that her priority has been for students, Arenla affirmed that she would remain a teacher at heart even after her retirement.
She urged the students to strive for excellence and to stay committed to their responsibilities. She further thanked the faculty and staff for their unstinted support and cooperation rendered to her.
Dr. Watimongla, HoD of English department and chairperson of the programme, described the outgoing principal as a humble, sincere, and a steady person. She further encouraged everyone to emulate her good and admirable qualities.
The college’s vice principal, Ms Tiamongla, spoke highly of her commitment in maintaining transparency. She expressed that the outgoing principal, during her short stint, had manifested herself as an honest and credible person in the eyes of all. She concluded her speech by saying that her transparent and able leadership would continue to foster a relationship of trust even after she leaves the college.
Short speeches were also delivered by president of FAC teachers association, Watitoshi; Tongzuk on behalf of the ministerial staff, and Ms Moamongla on behalf of the students’ union. A special song was presented by Ms Sungjemna Jamir and friends.
S Arenla Longkumer joined the college on April 2, 1983, in the department of Economics. She was promoted to the post of the vice principal in 2015, and subsequently to the post of principal in 2017. She was also the recipient of departmental meritorious award in the year 2008.
