Dimapur, Aug. 15 (EMN): Minister for Agriculture & Cooperation, G Kaito Aye has urged the farmers of Kiphire district to effectively use the machineries provided by the department and bring about changes in agricultural sector.
Addressing the farmers as the special guest, during the farm machinery distribution programme at the local ground in Kiphire on Aug. 15, the minister expressed his sincere gratitude to the Government of India for having launched the “Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan” scheme with a vision to double farmers’ income by 2022. He requested all the agriculture and allied departments to assist and advice the farmers on how to improve their farming techniques and raise their income through development in agriculture and allied sectors.
Aye said that the success of this programme depends on constant monitoring and supervision from department and cooperation of the farmers by utilising the resources made available.
He informed that 25 villages have been identified for implementation of the Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan, which is a boon to the farmers of the district.
Delivering the welcome address, the chairman thanked all the members present and mentioned that Kiphire is so fortunate for choosing as one of the aspirational districts. He urged the people to work hard and to utilise the machineries properly.
The deputy commissioner of Kiphire, Mohammed Ali Shihab, in his speech expressed gratitude to the department and also expressed hope that the farmers would be benefitted under the guidance and directives of the director and the minister.
