Mokokchung, July 1 (EMN): ATMA Changtongya Block organised training on value-addition on fruit and vegetable at Changtongya village on June 30.
BTM Temsutula Jamir informed that seasonal fruits and vegetables like litchi, peach and pineapple are found in abundance especially in and around Changtongya sub-division. However, she lamented that due to the short shelf life of most of the fruits, farmers face heavy losses.
The training was conducted to convert these fruits and vegetables into value-added products which would benefit the farming community, in the long run, a press release received from the organizers infromed.
Resource person Moaienla, technical officer from KVK Yisemyong, underlined the benefit of value addition and its contribution towards financial uplift of the farmers.
Participants were taught on making jam, juice, pickle and sauce. Altogether 25 female farmers attended the training.
