Farmers-scientist interaction on rabi crops held in Tuensang

Dimapur, Sep. 25 (EMN): With the aim to enhance livelihood security in the district, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tuensang organised a farmers-scientist interaction programme on September 24 at the KBCT with the theme, “Vegetable crops and its cultivation technologies with special emphasis on rabi season under Tuensang climatic situation”.

The technical experts for the programme were Tokiho Achumi, agronomist and Yanger I Kichu, M.Sc, entomology both from KVK and Vinoka, DPD from Agricultural Technology Management Agency (Atma), an update informed.

During the programme, the farmers and resource persons discussed on nursery management, different critical stages, how to tackle diseases and pest infestations, and scientific cultivation technologies. Farmers were encouraged to be proactive in applying the technology.

Altogether, 45 vegetable farmers, officials from fishery, Atma, ECS and agri and allied participated.

The programme which was sponsored by the Atma targeted the vegetable growers to help them imbibe with technical knowledge for self-sufficiency in vegetable production.

Bio-pesticides were also distributed the farmers, it informed.
