Farmers asked to adopt modern technology to prevent loss

Dimapur, Dec. 14 (EMN): Having observed that 10% of the food grains in India are wasted post harvest due to unscientific system of preservation, Dean of SASRD, Prof. AK Makar has insisted disseminating technologies that are farmer-friendly in order to protect the food grains from such losses.
Prof. Makar stated this at the culmination programme of the eight-day model training course on ‘Eco-friendly pest management in stored grains’ held at SASARD, Nagaland University, Medziphema Campus, on December 13. The training programme was organised by the Department of Entomology which was represented by 15 agriculture extension personnel from different districts. The participants were imparted with the recent technology on grain protection with practical demonstrations, visit to village storage and FCI godown.
Dr. LK Bhaishya, senior scientist of ICAR, Nagaland Centre, and guest of honour, has congratulated the department for organising such training on eco-friendly pest management. He has encouraged the participants to sincerely advocate the knowledge and technologies learned from the training in the state for both qualitative and quantitative production.
Neiketo Tsükrü, AFA, DAO Office, Kohima, received the Best Participant Certificate.
Dr. Beremjungla, Officer In-charge of Bio-Control Lab, Department of Agriculture, and Zhavisier gave the feedback and remarks on behalf of the participants.
The valedictory programme was chaired by Prof. HK Singh while the invocation prayer was said by Anungba Imsong, pastor of MTABC. Dr. Pankaj Neog, Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology, gave the course report, while a special number was presented by Nungshitola Pongener. The vote of thanks was pronounced by Dr. IT Asangla Jamir, course director and Head Department of Entomology, SASRD.
