Dimapur, May 5 (EMN): Agricultural Technology Management Authority (Atma), Zunheboto, has organised a one-day ‘Farmers-scientist interaction’ programme on May 4 in the office of the sub-divisional agriculture officer (SDAO), Akuluto.

An update from Atma Zunheboto stated that the programme was chaired by Chubatsur, BTM of Zunheboto block, while Vikhaho, DPD Atma, delivered the welcome address. It stated that Vikhaho has enlightened the farmers on Naga farm doctor App and Kisan Suvidha App for any queries related to agriculture and allied activities.

Resource persons Dr. Visakho and Dr. Nongothung from KVK, Lumami, have clarified doubts raised by farmers on issues such as ‘damping off in chilli, poor germination in paddy as a result of delay in monsoon, and fall armyworm (FAW) infestation in maize in the fields.’

It added that various control measures and management practices for FAW were highlighted to the farmers besides explaining them on poultry farming as a profitable business venture for sustainable livelihood.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Tsuktilemla Ao, BTM of Akuluto block. It further stated that a total of 20 participants including farmer friends, progressive farmers, officials from the Agriculture department and Atma staff attended the programme.
