DIMAPUR — A farewell programme in honour of the outgoing Additional Secretary of Home, Shayung Phom, was held at the conference hall of the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima on Thursday.

According to a DIPR report, Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, delivering his speech, stated that in his many years of association with the outgoing officer, he found him to be very sincere and honest in his dealings with everyone who came in contact with him.

He said that Shayung has been a very dedicated officer who served the government and the people to the best of his ability, mostly in remote and challenging areas, throughout his entire career.

Sinha also remarked that by examining the posting places and his career profile, one can easily recognise the extent of sacrifices he made to ensure good governance reaches the remotest areas in the best possible manner. He congratulated Phom on his career and wished him a happy and healthy retired life.

Secretary Home, Orenthung Lotha, speaking on behalf of the Home department said that among the 1996 NCS batch mates, Phom was the one who got many important and challenging assignments and gave the best service to the state government and to the people as well.

During his farewell speech, Shayung Phom humbly requested all departments in the Civil Secretariat to organise a befitting and grand farewell programme for the MTAs upon their retirement. He noted that only higher-ranking officers receive such elaborate farewells.

He also expressed gratitude to all the officers and staff of the department for their constant guidance and support during his tenure. He expressed his hope to continue serving in various capacities for the welfare of the people even after his retirement.
