Dimapur, March 2: North East Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA) in collaboration with Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), Nagaland Branch organised family planning and sexual reproductive camp in Penkim, Pungro and Khongsa villages under Kiphire district on February 19 and 20.
The purpose of the camp was to create basic awareness on family planning methods and to sensitize the community on sexual reproductive health and rights issues and also to provide free medical health services, counselling and laboratory services. The team led by Dr. Dietho Koza treated a total of 146 patients for various ailments and 73 children were dewormed. During the camp it was observed that majority of the patients came for consultation suffered from waterborne diseases like chronic gastritis and various skin ailments, especially in children. There was also a large unmet need for family planning services in these villages with limited or no access to contraceptives. Many families also reported having more than 10 children in the villages covered during the health camp. a total of 212 members participated in the awareness sessions.
