Dimapur, Sep.21 (EMN):  A family of three including a minor was injured when a group of around four to five persons assaulted the family on Thursday. The incident took place around 8:00 PM on Sep. 21, 2017 at Chumukedima second gate, daily bazaar junction of NH 29.

As per the police, the family was returning to Dimapur from a family dinner at Chumukedima when their vehicle was interrupted by the group at the ‘second gate’ junction. The police said that the group of around four to five people came in an auto rickshaw and a motor-cycle.

Prior to the incident, it was reported that the father had reportedly rebuked the group, who as per the victim’s account to Police were found smoking, alleged to be ganja at the Serouza autorickshaw stand. The assault occurred consequently as the family were on their way to Dimapur.

The police said the assailants manhandled the father and in the scuffle his son was also injured. The assailants fled the scene after a passer-by raised alarm, following which nearby residents arrived at the scene.

The police informed that the driver of the auto rickshaw was apprehended by the locals and the search was on to find the rest.
