Dimapur, July 11 (EMN): Faith Hospital in Dimapur is preparing to administer the Russian Sputnik V vaccine, which was received by the hospital on July 9, from July 12 onwards.
Faith Hospital PRO Dr. Thungbemo Humtsoe while confirming this to Eastern Mirror said the vaccine would be made available on ‘first come first basis’ for 18 years and above.
Unlike the registration process of Covishield through CoWin portal, the slot for the vaccination by Sputnik V will be via on-site registration at the hospital. He further informed that those who come for the vaccination need to produce their Aadhaar cards and their contact number.
The hospital at the moment has 1200 doses available and the price of the Sputnik V vaccine is INR 2290 (for both the doses). The interval time period for the vaccine is 21 days, Humtsoe said.
He said even those people who have received their first dose or both the doses of Covishield can avail the Sputnik V vaccine without any side effects.
Responding to the doubts of people on the efficacy of Covishield and Sputnik V vaccine and the comparison between the two, Humtsoe clarified that it is ‘one’s choice to choose between the vaccines’ as both are effective but ‘this does not guarantee protection against coronavirus’.
Sputnik V vaccine was procured by Faith Hospital through the help of the state government and department of Health and Family Welfare.
