Faith Hospital, Eden Medical Centre begin Covid treatment

Dimapur, May 14 (EMN): Two private hospitals — Eden Medical Centre and Faith Hospital – based in Dimapur have started treating Covid-19 patients as positive cases continue to surge in the state.
Faith Hospital had started treating Covid patients from May 5.
Dr. Kitaka Wotsa, a surgeon at Faith Hospital, told Eastern Mirror that there are 41 in-patients at the facility currently and nine are in intensive care unit.
The hospital is also in the process of setting up a makeshift Covid-19 care centre.
Wotsa said the Indian Army at Rangapahar Military Station has set up five tents with 10-bedded capacity in the premises of Faith Hospital and the Dimapur District Task Force for Covid-19 is said to be co-ordinating the efforts and actively helping with regard to resources.
“The Covid-19 care unit aims to give free basic care with oxygen support to those in need. It will initially be 10-bedded and can be expanded as needed,” informed the doctor.
Dr. Sukhato A Sema, proprietor of the hospital, has also pledged to support the Covid-19 care unit with INR 5 lakh for providing free oxygen, it was informed.
Wotsa said that two Covid patients are currently undergoing treatment in the makeshift Covid care unit as the hospital beds are full.
Meanwhile, Director of Eden Medical Centre, Dr. Lima Imchen issued a statement on Friday, informing that the hospital had decided to start a 10-bedded Covid ward to admit Covid-19 positive cases from Friday, May 14, in view of the increasing number of positive cases requiring hospitalisation.
“Covid-positive cases requiring hospital care and oxygen therapy will be admitted in this Covid ward,” it said, adding that people can contact its helpline numbers: 9362790293 / 9863665800 for enquiries related to availability of beds at the facility.
