Faculty development programme underway at NU Kohima campus
DIMAPUR — A faculty development programme (FDP) got underway at Nagaland University (NU), Kohima campus, on Tuesday, with a focus on the design, development, and delivery of online and blended learning courses.
According to a press release, the programme will continue until November 11 and is being organised by the department of Teacher Education and sponsored by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi.
The FDP brought together educators, scholars, and administrators from across the academic spectrum to address the challenges and opportunities in the modern education landscape.
Prof. Jagadish Patnaik, vice chancellor of Nagaland University, was the chief guest at the inaugural session and delivered the inaugural address, while Prof. GT Thong, pro vice chancellor, spoke on the programme’s significance. Prof. Jano S Liegise, dean of the School of Humanities and Education, gave the welcome address.
The event also provided a platform for discussing future collaborations with NIEPA for other campuses of Nagaland University.
In his speech, Prof. K Srinivas, programme director, stated that the FDP was designed to provide educators with practical guidance on creating effective online and blended courses.
He added that the programme aimed at improving student engagement, increasing flexibility, enhancing collaboration, improving technology skills, enhancing course design, increasing accessibility, and refining assessment strategies.
According to the release, the university is already planning more such programmes in the future.
