KOHIMA — To enhance the skills of journalists in identifying and countering misinformation, the Kohima Press Club (KPC) hosted a one-day training session focused on fact-checking and verification for journalists in Kohima on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Moalemba, Google News Initiative (GNI) India Training Network trainer, highlighted the vital role played by the GNI India Training Network in supporting journalists and media educators across India in combating misinformation.

He showcased manipulated images and videos through presentations, illustrating the deceptive tactics employed by malicious actors for various purposes.

Moalemba stressed the importance of equipping journalists with the essential fact-checking and verification tools required to counter such manipulative content.

He also underlined the significance of data verification and urged journalists to exercise caution when encountering potentially misleading information.
