Dimapur, July 12: Fabindia, the country’s largest private platform for products that are made from traditional techniques, skills and hand-based processes by craftsmen from various parts of India, opened its store in Dimapur on July 12 at Chishi Complex, Circular Road.
The regional head (eastern region) of Fabindia, Sujata Absar informed that the launch of its store in Dimapur would make it the 10th in the Northeast and the 46th in eastern India.
“This brand is known popularly across India because of the natural fibres use in its products,” said Absar, adding that the products offered in its Dimapur store are from across India which are fast selling like clothing, jewellery, food products and others.
She went on to say that Fabindia believes in protecting the heritage and ways of the craftsmen involved in producing the items. “We believe in giving employment to the craftsmen where they can do their work in their own environment; we don’t want to lose this,” she said.
Co-proprietor of the store in Dimapur, Jevitoli Kinimi informed that there were three categories for Fabindia’s food product: Green logo, blue logo and yellow logo.
Kinimi elaborated that the products with a green logo are fully certified organic while the blue logo products are in conversion, which means the farmers use purely organic techniques and have registered to comply with set standards. The yellow logos are products that are natural which means small farmers use organic technique but decided not to register.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dimapur, Dr. K Vikato Kinimi inaugurated the store.
