Dimapur, June 2: On May 28, personnel of East Police Station, Dimapur, arrested one person identified as Mughalu Ayemi, son of Vikiye Ayemi, while collecting illegal vehicle tax near Hazi Park area. He was collecting tax in the name of the Dimapur Auto Owners Syndicate. Cash and other incriminating documents in the form of coupons were seized from his possession.
In a separate incident, Dimapur Police personnel manning ISBT detected and seized 11,000 capsules of banned Spasmo Proxyvon from the possession of Pukhalu Assumi, son of Hutovi Assumi. Case under relevant sections of law has been registered is under investigation. Meanwhile, Dimapur police clarified the public and various offices that the Anti-Corruption and Crime Investigation Front (ACIF) is not a statutory body under the Central or the state Government. It said ACIF has no authority to impose penalties, adjudicate decision, sentence imprisonment etc.
It said Dimapur Police is not against any individual or organization but is fighting the evils in the society and working for its betterment while adding that it is carrying out actions and activities within the permissible confines of the law without infringing into the functions of the competent agencies.
