Dimapur, Nov. 9 (EMN): Former Chief Minister TR Zeliang has expressed hope that a final Naga solution will arrive in the form of “a big Christmas gift to all of us along with the message of real peace”.
A press statement received here informed that Zeliang shared this hope while addressing the golden jubilee programme of St. Xavier Higher Secondary School, Jalukie on Saturday.
“In today’s world, the cry of the people is for peace because peace is a pre-requisite for any economic as well as social advancement. Coming to Naga context, we have struggled with armed conflict for more than seven decades, which has created a critical gap in every sphere, be it politically, socially, economically or educationally,” he said.
The former chief minister urged all to pray till the day of inking the final Indo-Naga agreement ‘where all armed-groups should be included’ in order to bring permanent peace to the land.
Further, he encouraged the schools and colleges to include cultural competitions in every annual conference “in order to preserve our unique culture and identity”.
“In this new era, employment problem is mounting day by day and to address this serious problem, we need to create awareness on the importance of skill development and use of technology to boost and increase the work force in our state. For those to happen, one should learn and develop skills while in school/colleges and be mentally prepared to work both in private and in public sectors,” he said.
Zeliang also acknowledged the contribution the school has been making towards the progress of education in the district as well as the state.
