Two bootleggers under Excise custody.[/caption]
Dimapur, June 5 (EMN): Dimapur district excise duty party manning the excise checkgate at Chumukedima led by Yanphungrhomo, AIE (I/C), alongwith constables Khekhavi, Buden, Weilekha, Vikaho, Khalenthung, and TK Medom recovered 21 cases IMFL on June 2.
According to T Arilong Longkumer, superintendent of excise & prohibition, the liquor was seized from a Maruti Esteem bearing registration No. AS-01 AV-2141. He added that two persons identified as Arun Kumar Mahto and Ajay were arrested in this connection and penalised under the NLTP Act ‘89.
On the same day at 6 am and 11:45 am, the above mentioned duty party intercepted two more vehicles bearing registration No. NL07-0680 (Maruti car) and NL01 C-8689 (Chevrolet spark) and recovered 10 and 20 cases of assorted IMFL respectively.
It stated that two accused identified as Ikuto and P Setrichem Sangtam were booked as per the relevant section of the NLTP Act.
