Dimapur, Feb. 21 (EMN): Following a tip off about illegal transaction of drugs in Nagarjan area, the Excise Narcotic personnel swung into action and seized 300 grams of heroin from the possession of one Bisu Rai (27), a resident of Half Nagarjan, Dimapur, on Saturday.
An update from the deputy commissioner of Excise (NC), S Chanlei Angh stated that the seized contraband drug was recovered from 25 soap cases each weighing around 12 grams. He added that the accused was arrested and booked under the relevant sections of NDPS Act 1985.
In a related incident, Dimapur Excise personnel manning the New Field Check Gate intercepted an Imphal bound truck bearing registration No. MN0 2G 2290 and seized 524 cases of assorted liquor on February 19 at around 5:30 am.
The superintendent of Excise and Prohibition, T Arilong Longkumer, stated that the consignment was recovered concealed beneath several bags of potato. It added that one person identified as Nongmaithem Sabitkumar Singh (29), a resident of Wangjing in Thoubal, Manipur, was arrested and booked under the relevant sections of NLTP Act 1989. As per the investigation, it stated that the IMFL consignment was loaded at Guwahati and was on its way to Imphal, Manipur.
