Dimapur, Nov. 20 (EMN): Personnel of Excise mobile squad stationed at Dillai check gate intercepted a truck bearing registration No. AS01 MC 8515 near Khermahal traffic point after a hot pursuit and recovered 400 cases of assorted liquor concealed under sacks of perform PET bottles.
A press release issued by superintendent of Excise and Prohibition (MS), K Toshiho Yeptho, stated that truck was loaded with the consignment at 8th Mile in Guwahati and was on its way to Imphal in Manipur, when the truck was intercepted.
He stated that two persons identified as Yumlembam Meitei and K Prem were arrested and booked under relevant sections of the NLTP Act. He added that the seized articles are deposited in the Excise malkhana and further investigation was on.
Destruction committee led by its chairman and additional public prosecutor, Wokha, SDPO, EAC (judiciary), OC of Wokha Police Station, Prosecution Inspector (PI) Wokha and staff destroyed huge quantity of liquor, which were seized on different occasion during frisking and MVCP conducted in and around Wokha town.
The destruction was conducted on November 19 at helipad area in Wokha town. The destroyed consignment included 96 bottles of Magic Moments Vokda, 68 bottles of MC Dowels whisky, 24 bottles of MC Rum, 2160 Cane of Kingfisher beer, 849 bottles of MC Rum, and 4 bottles of Officer Choice whisky.
