Imphal, March 30 (EMN): As part of Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign in connection with the upcoming 17th Lok Sabha polls, a half-marathon under the banner “No runners to be left behind” was organised on Saturday at Kangpokpi district headquarters, 45km north of Imphal.
Kangpokpi District Election Officer Laithambigai flagged-off the marathon at 6:30 am.
After the race, a quiz competition was also conducted at Thomas Ground of the district headquarters to give awareness to the public on inclusive voters and free and fair elections.
DEO said that the half-marathon was organised as an awareness campaign for the use of EVM/VVPAT machines to all voters of the district and the idea of inclusive voters i.e. no voters to be left behind. She also appreciated all the participants.
He also extended her appreciation to SVEEP Nodal Officer Chunglienmang and team for organising such awareness programme for the public.
The DEO and Superintendent of Police gave away the prizes to the winners. A special prize was also given to a participant who got first among female participants.
Later, hands-on training on the use of EVM and VVPAT was also organised for general public.
Superintendent of Police Hemant Pandey of Kangpokpi district, Assistant District Magistrate Lalramsang Infimate, SVEEP Nodal Officer Chunglienmang, Additional SP Emmanuel Infimate, Major Subrata Debbarma of 38 Assam Rifles, SDOs, election officer, district-level officers, DC office staff, students and youths of the district participated.
