DIPHU— Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Tuliram Ronghang has said that eviction drives would be carried out shortly at Dudu colony and Khan Basti at Lahorijan under Bokajan sub-division along the Assam-Nagaland boundary.
The CEM visited Dudu colony and Khan Basti on Friday in the wake of reports of fresh illegal settlements in the area, it was informed.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Earlier in January 2022, the Land and Revenue department, KAAC, carried out an eviction drive against illegal settlers in the area, bordering Dimapur in Nagaland.
The department sources said that around 236 families have constructed houses in the area which is more than 200 bighas.
During the visit, the CEM told the settlers that anyone without valid documents or land patta would be evicted. A couple of settlers produced land documents but the CEM said such documents should have KAAC approval, it was informed.
