Dimapur, March 30 (EMN): The additional deputy commissioner of Dimapur Lovitoly Sema on Monday assured that the supply and flow of essential commodities in Dimapur is ‘smooth’ amid the nationwide lockdown to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, Sema said the district administration is exerting all necessary efforts to ensure availability of essential commodities during the lockdown period.

‘The flow of essential commodities in the markets is going smoothly. There is no need for the citizens to panic,’ said Sema.

On being queried about the preparedness of the administration in tackling any eventuality from the situation, she said the district administration has set up five quarantine facilities in Dimapur. The district hospital of Dimapur has been designated ‘Covid-19 hospital’ for the district.

Four days ago, the district administration had also set up various helpline numbers for the public in case of any inconvenience or concern about the Covid-19 pandemic.

Besides various services and helpline, the district administration had also set up a district community kitchen for the homeless, needy, or stranded people, at the Dimapur District Sports Complex stadium. The public can contact the committee at the number 6009924366.

During a phone conversation with Eastern Mirror, the administrator of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) Albert Ezung said the district municipality had sanitised 96 colonies and market places. Ezung informed that the daily waste collection activities will not stop as it is important for maintaining hygiene.

Also, the administrator said that the department’s workers are being equipped with basic first-hand protective gears such as gloves, masks, and hand sanitizers for their safety.

It may be noted that the DMC had licensed some start-up entrepreneurs and firms namely Freshzola (8119037070), Ahibo LLP (8837062880) and the Nagaland Two Wheeler Taxi Association of Dimapur (9774171883) for home delivery services of food and other essential commodities.
