Dimapur, Sep. 22 (EMN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has urged the authority concerned to immediately intervene and resolve the issues concerning the transporters, who are on strike since September 16, stating that essential commodities and goods were ‘fast diminishing’ in Dimapur.

Reiterating the concern expressed by the Nagaland Medicine Dealers’ Association on the shortage of life-saving drugs, DCCI, in a press statement, said if the strike continues for long, the commercial hub will not only face acute shortage of medicines but all essential commodities and goods.

“The district administration and law enforcing agencies know full well that anti-social elements and groups are now resorting to violent and subtle tactics to coerce the business community into submission.

“These tactics are amply manifested by recent incidents targeting the business community. But till date, the district administration or police have not announced any concrete action taken or made any arrest in regard to the above incidents,” it read.

DCCI further warned of indefinite shutter-down if the authority fails to take prompt action “as there is no point in opening shops without goods or provisions”, it added.
