Dimapur, May 16 (EMN): Parliamentary Secretary of Art and Culture Eshak Konyak called upon the head of offices in the district to adopt ways and means to control their subordinate officers and employees by ensuring that they are present in their respective posting places and cater to the needs of the people.
Addressing the members at the monthly meeting of Mon District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) on May 15 in the DC’s conference hall, Eshak Konyak lamented that many government employees were found to be absent from their posting place for months and enjoying their salary paid through the bank.
“If we continue with such attitude and corruption, then our State will have no future,” he cautioned.
He further appealed to the DPDB members not to take advantage of their subordinate officers by sending them to represent on their behalf during important meetings like DPDB, where important business takes place.
The new chairman also expressed his concern over starting of academic session at Polytechnic College, Aboi, and functioning of 11th NAP (IR) headquarters at Aboi. He apprised the house that all necessary constructions and infrastructure development have been completed for the college and appealed the members to forward the matter to the concerned department for necessary action.
Deputy Commissioner, Mon, W Honje Konyak urged the new chairman to allocate fund to felicitate the good performing schools and students of the district.
Poor performance of government schools in the district was also discussed at length. In this regard, the DC suggested reviewing and completing the ongoing detail survey conducted by the administration on Government Primary Schools in the district to identify and understand the root cause of poor result in the HSLC Examinations.
Execustive Engineer PWD (R&B) informed the members on the status and progress of Mon-Namtola road and other roads under Tizit sub division. The DIO, NIC, Mon, Ravi, presented power point on “Digital India,” while the department of Food & Civil Supplies also presented their activities through power point.
