Dimapur, June 9 (EMN):The Entrepreneurs Associates conducted a training for "women vendors," on June 7 at Kiding village of Tuensang district as part of the entrepreneurs' programme to 'uplift' the ‘guardians of our local economy.’ The group issued updates informing that 140 women from 11 villages attended the training programme, which aimed at connecting and empowering them, as part of 'uplifting' the vendors with support from Capri Foundation. Addressing the women, the associates' chief executive officer Neichute Doulo was stated to have urged the women to 'take their business seriously' and to take pride in their contribution to the rural economy. "Stressing on the need to save regularly and consistently, so that their businesses can grow in the years to come, he urged them to practise honesty while delivering quality service to their customers while emphasising the need for ethical business at any level of work," the press release stated. Doulo also talked about rural entrepreneurship as most of the vendors were cultivators too. He urged them to focus on products that are of higher economic value "while at the same time not too bulky for transportation." He told the women that there was huge potential for growth in the rural agriculture business and that they need to take advantage of the opportunity. The associates' corporate manager Shiroi Lily Shaiza also spoke to the gathering. She talked about the organisation and its vision to empower people through entrepreneurship. Focusing on the need to empower the women who are the “guardians of our local economy,” the press release stated, she said it was imperative that the vendors progress to positively impact their communities. The Entrepreneurs Associates also distributed rain coats for free to the women to enable to work comfortable during the monsoon season, the updates stated. The Entrepreneurs Associates is said to have trained 1300 "women vendors" by conducting similar training events in Mokokchung, Dimapur, Wokha, Phek town, Kohima and Pfutero town. "Many of these women are already on the road to economic empowerment through regular savings and financial planning; being regularly financed and mentored by the organisation," the group asserted. "Besides this, EA has also been providing market linkages to these women through its networks increasing the incomes of women vendors and their families. EA endeavours to reach out to more women vendors in Nagaland and other states of the Northeast," the press release added.
