Dimapur, Feb. 6 (EMN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has expressed astonishment at what it called “cold response” of the Nagaland state government and the School Education department to a representation concerning the ‘relaxation policy.’ The ENSF issued a press release on Wednesday demanding redress of their grievances. The federation said to have submitted a representation on December 18 2018 ‘for relaxation policy’; for “relaxation to obtain the professional qualification for those candidates belonging to six tribes”; the relaxation which came into force on the 9th of January 2009 for a period of ten years with a subject to review either for extension or discontinuance. ‘But since then there has been no response from the government as well from the School Education department. The federation also questioned the state government and concerned department that even after all these years not a single B.Ed institution had been set up in the entire jurisdiction of eastern Nagaland,’ the ENSF stated. The department in concern should be able to recognize the importance of setting up a B.Ed institution, the group stated. The federation has demanded that “adequate B.Ed college” must be introduced “in the districts of eastern Nagaland.” Moreover, the press release stated, “those existing institutions cannot accommodate all those candidates seeking for admission so the only alternative is for extension of the relaxation policy. Heretofore, to avoid further complications, the federation anticipates the state government and the department to take stock of the situation and address our representation on topmost priority at the earliest.”
