EASTERN Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has expressed dissatisfaction over quality of new road construction on National Highway 155 which began to wear away even before the work is completed and urged the competent authority to take immediate redressal and necessary action. In a joint press release, ENSF president Shahsha L Menhahu and the assistant general secretary Topongchuba Chang have regretted that so far the department is not so serious about the hardships and problems faced by the citizens of Tuensang. It said the Federation have been keeping vigil and taken serious about the development of their region and the National Highway 155 – the only lifeline route for the people of Tuensang- where it has discussed and deliberated on many occasions.
It has particularly lamented over the ongoing new construction on NH-155 wherein it stated the Federation was not satisfied with the quality of road where the construction work is on progress. To their utter dismay, the Federation noticed that even the newly constructed road was cracking away when the workers are within the few distance from the spot for the completion of another stretch of the road when it went for inspection for the third time.
In the light of the above stated circumstances, the Federation has appealed the government to direct the concerned contractors to improve the quality of workmanship before things get out of hand. It has also requested to withheld the final bill until the ENSF expressed no objection over the quality of the road and more importantly no objection from the people of Tuensang.
