DIMAPUR — The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has appealed to the Department of Roads and Bridges to ensure that work orders for PMGSY road constructions under its jurisdiction, are issued to the firms and contractors who are proficient, sincere and do not have “otherwise records,” during execution of works in eastern Nagaland.

The appeal came following reports that work orders for road construction under PMGSY in six eastern districts – Tuensang, Mon, Shamator, Kiphire, Longleng and Noklak – will be issued in few days by the Department of Roads and Bridges.

The federation in a press release stated that the “appeal and directive” is issued against the backdrop of many PMGSY roads under eastern Nagaland jurisdiction still lying incomplete or abandoned.

And despite numerous appeals for proper workmanship and timely completion of works by various individuals, groups and organisations, the state government, the concerned department or contractor, have intervened, the ENSF claimed.

The federation demanded the state government and concerned department to thoroughly investigate the strategic locations of the projects to be undertaken, and to issue work orders to the right firm and contractors, who will not “compromise on workmanship in any manner.”

Meantime, the ENSF also requested all organisations, groups and individuals, to extend utmost co-operation to any firm/contractors under their respective jurisdiction, for proper implementation and timely completion of the project, and to strictly refrain from any form of collection or harassment.

It further cautioned that the federation will visit project sites anytime and that clearance order/certificate will be withheld if the workmanship is not up to the mark.
