DIMAPUR — About 100 members of the Eastern Nagaland People's Union Dimapur (ENPUD), along with its eight tribal units, the Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation Dimapur and the Dimapur Eastern Nagaland Students' Union, conducted a social work drive at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, on Saturday to promote a clean and disaster-resilient environment.
According to the ENPUD, the initiative aimed to set a positive example for government offices across the district.
As the principal administrative office and the hub of government functioning in Dimapur, the DC's office was chosen to encourage both government and private institutions to maintain clean, healthy and well-kept surroundings.

The union emphasised that such initiatives are particularly important during the monsoon season, when the district is more vulnerable to natural calamities and disasters.
Deputy Commissioner Dimapur and his colleagues provided refreshments to the volunteers following the programme.
Earlier, the programme began with a welcome address by ENPUD president NT Thamlong Phom, followed by a one-minute silent prayer in memory of those who lost their lives in the recent landslide in Mon district.
