DIMAPUR — The President of Eastern Nagaland
People's Organisation (ENPO), Chingmak Chang, has emphasised the urgent need
for the realisation of the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) with executive,
legislative and financial autonomy.
- A press release on Wednesday stated that the ENPO leader
made this statement while delivering a speech at the 8th Eastern Naga Students'
Federation (ENSF) fiesta in Tuensang on April 15.
- He began by reminding the attendees of the encouraging words
delivered by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in 2023 in both Mon and Tuensang.

- The president quoted the chief minister's promise that “the
state government will give full cooperation for the development of ENPO areas,
and whatever decision the GoI takes on FNT, we will be a partner and see that
they catch up with the rest of the state and the country.”
- “He also stated that the central government, the state of
Nagaland, and the ENPO have unanimously agreed and consented in principle on
FNT with executive, legislative and financial autonomy. Hence, this fundamental
principle must be granted in letter and spirit,” it added.
- Further, he appealed to the state government to partner with
ENPO to ensure that the parameters of the FNT are not restricted by any Article
of the Constitution of India or statutory laws.
- “Lastly, the state government and the central government
must ensure that constitutional provisions and statutory laws do not inhibit
the establishment of the FNT in any manner,” it stated.
