ENPO, KSU condemn firing at Pangsha

Dimapur, Sep. 14 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has expressed pain over the unfortunate incident on September 11, at Pangsha ITC (DAN) under Noklak sub-division, Tuensang district, where ‘Assam Rifles command post came under attack, almost causing to neighbouring civilian by some armed elements reportedly due to indiscriminate firing and explosions from across the Indo-Myanmar border.’ Dimapur, Sep. 14 (EMN): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has expressed pain over the unfortunate incident on September 11, at Pangsha ITC (DAN) under Noklak sub-division, Tuensang district, where ‘Assam Rifles command post came under attack, almost causing to neighbouring civilian by some armed elements reportedly due to indiscriminate firing and explosions from across the Indo-Myanmar border.’ Whether it is accidental or otherwise, this extremely unfortunate incident is beyond tolerance, ENPO stated.“In line with the principles of December 18, 2007 Tuensang resolution, the public of Eastern Nagaland opposed to any form of arm conflicts and violence within ENPO jurisdiction, and for which, it resolves to continue to appeal all armed people to maintain peace and tranquillity, and to honour the same in the interest of peace and harmony in the region,” ENPO Media Cell stated.Meanwhile, the Kiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) has vehemently condemned the recent firing and bomb blast which broke out between the NSCN (K) and the Assam Rifle on September 11 at Dan (ITC) Pangsha, under Noklak sub-division.The KSU condemned the ‘the stray bullets that hit the Mission School and shelling at innocent residence which induces a fear psyche and tension among the residents of the area and the students in particular.The union urged the responsible to avoid such kind of activities as it hampers the peaceful existence of the villagers and students community. The KSU also requested the concerned to render their valuable services in the field of education, developmental activities, human resource development instead of exhibiting war and bloodshed in area.A press release from KSU vice president H Mucho and general secretary Puthai stated that “the Khiamniungans have been deprived of modern education and technological advancement for many decades and that it would not be able to move along with the other Naga fellows if war and bloodsheds still continue in the area, rather it will drag us back to the primitive age.” The KSU added that the students’ community is totally against such activities as ‘it hinders the progress of human existence.’Further, the union appealed all the responsible to maintain peaceful atmosphere in the area and refrain from such activity in future considering the innocent publics and the students.
