DIMAPUR— The second edition of Y Mangko Trust Award 2023 ceremony for the HSLC and HSSLC toppers from Eastern Nagaland was held at Hotel Saramati in Dimapur on Thursday. A total of 20 toppers were felicitated during a programme organized by the Eastern Nagaland People Organisation (ENPO).

Speaking at the felicitation programme, Limaonen Chang, MLA and secretary general of Eastern Nagaland Legislator’s Union (ENLU), called upon the toppers to inculcate skills as the competition has become ‘very tough’ in this present time. He further reminded the students that their parents have toiled and invested on their studies with the belief to look after them by providing a comfortable life on completion of their education.

Also speaking on the occasion, the assistant general secretary of Eastern Nagaland Gazetted Officer Association (ENGOA), H Lam, advised the students not to remain complacent with the current achievement but strive harder in order to achieve greater things in life. Lam also urged the student to cultivate the habit of reading books and be an asset to the society.

The president of Eastern Nagaland Students Federation (ENSF), Chingmak Kumchuba Chang, challenged the successful students to become successful in life and contribute towards the growth of the society.

The eldest son of Y Mangko, MC Longai, encouraged the toppers to persevere despite all hurdles to succeed in life. He advised them to be like ‘water’ and be a source of inspiration for others to emulate.

“No matter what you achieve in life, you should always honour your parents,” he said.

Tsapikiu Sangtam, president of ENPO, was of the view that securing first, second and third positions is not a big thing but what was more important is achieving success in life.

While reminding the toppers that their life is in their own hands, Sangtam cautioned them not take advantage of their achievement.

‘Be nobody now if you want to become somebody tomorrow,’ he said adding that they should handle their career very carefully.
