Enforcement starts week by netting liquor, FGN cadres

Enforcement personnel of the army have began the new month of March. Various arrests have been made in connection with cases of liquor smuggling while two activists of the underground group FGN have been apprehended. The authorities issued press releases on Monday informing of the arrests. During routine duty on February 24, personnel of the 17 Assam Rifles apprehended three persons who were transporting illegal liquor in the Bhandari areas along the Assam-Nagaland border. The security force informed on Monday that they intercepted a truck, an Ashok Leyland (AS 01 EC 5713) and seized 800 cases of Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth about Rs. 26, 40,000 from the persons.
The arrested individuals have been identified as one Ananda Basumatry, an Arup Saikia, and a Sandu Mech , all residents of Assam. The seized items and the vehicle have been handed over to the Police Station of Bhandari, the Assam Rifles stated.
