Dimapur, July 24 (EMN): State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (Sameti) organised a two-day online training programme on “Women Empowerment through Agricultural Entrepreneurship” for Atma functionaries at Sameti, Medziphema on July 23and 24.
Dr. Watimongla Jamir, director of Sameti and principal of IETC i/c in her inaugural speech gave a brief overview of women entrepreneurship and explained about the important role played by women in society and sericulture in particular, stated an update on Friday.
Resource persons for the training were Dr. Mary N Odyuo, assistant professor at Nagaland University, Rural Development department; SASRD, Medziphema and Tiajungla Longchar, deputy project director of Sameti, Medziphema .
Topics on rural women empowerment through agripreneurship, issues and prospects, empowering women in agribusiness, role of women in agriculture, and social and economic empowerment through agri and allied enterprises were discussed.
Members from all the districts participated in the training programme. E-certificates were forwarded to the participants, it informed.
