Empowering the under-privileged women

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 8

A vocational training on cutting and tailoring for the under-privileged widows and women, being organized by Christ for the Downtrodden Ministry (CFTDM), got underway today here at Kuda village.
The training, under theme “Equipping the helpless”, is the first of its kind initiated by Christ for the Downtrodden Ministry. The training is aimed at assisting the under-privileged widows and women to find a sustainable livelihood. The inaugural function was graced by former deputy chairman of Dimapur Municipal Council, DP Angami as the chief guest.
In his address, he asked the trainees to take keen interest in the training and to strive with determination for a successful future.
“Do not be discouraged and underestimate yourselves as unfit for any job. Give your best in everything you attempt. There is rich reward for those who strive with determination and perseverance,” Angami said.
He further encouraged the trainees to stand firm so that they become a source of inspiration and blessing for the society and their own respective families.
The programme was chaired by Mhono Humtsoe, while a word of encouragement was delivered by trainer Awan Konyak.
Other highlights included invocation by KC Dutta, Pastor, Bengali Baptist Church, Dimapur, scripture reading by Kekhriesezo Tetso, vice president CFTD Ministry, special number by Kekhrowate-ü and vote of thanks by CFTD Ministry president, Ato Angami.
The home-based training will be conducted at the office of the CFTD Ministry, Kuda village. According to the CFTD Ministry president, there is no specific duration for the course, and it will continue until the day the trainees are able to establish themselves as masters in the profession. The first batch of trainees has 16 women – both Nagas and non-Nagas.
Meanwhile, the CFTD Ministry thanked the Department of Social Welfare for all the possible assistance provided to conduct the training. It also thanked the ministry partners and well-wishers for the support till date.
