EM Tokbi declares Gunotsav results, cites progress

DIPHU — Richard Tokbi, Executive Member (EM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) for Education, has announced the results of the KAAC-conducted Gunotsav 2023.

In a press conference held at his official residence in Diphu on Thursday, he stated that the Gunosav results show that there has been significant improvement in school education.

The KAAC Gunotsav was held on October 16, 17, and 18, 2023. It was KAAC’s first Gonotsav, held in both Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong, to assess the quality of education in government schools and identify areas for improvement. It was conducted under the initiative of the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang.

The Education Minister also mentioned the Assam State Gunotsav, scheduled to take place across the state in January 2024. The Gunotsav will be conducted in three phases, with the Karbi Anglong district falling within the first phase scheduled for January 3 to January 6.

On the inaugural day of the Gunotsav, members of the school management committees and school management and development committees will carry out self-evaluation. Subsequently, on January 4, 5, and 6, external evaluation will take place. Elected members, including MLAs, Members of the Autonomous Council, EMs, and government officials, will be engaged as evaluators.

The Gunotsav will be covered in 1,252 schools from Class 1 to 9 in the educational blocks of Bokajan, Howraghat, Samelango, Rongmongve, Lumbajong, Nilip, and Langsomepi, with a total enrolment of 74,698 students. According to the EM, there are 1002 primary schools, 154 upper primary schools, 96 composite high schools, and 45 higher secondary schools. West Karbi Anglong is scheduled for coverage from February 5 to 8.

The block-wise result of KAAC, Gunotsav 2023 in Karbi Anglong district comprises seven education blocks: Bokajan, Howraghat, Lumbajong, Langsomepi, Nilip, Rongmongve, and Samelangso, with a total of 1,276 schools and 79,561 students. There were 279 A+ schools, 458 A, 248 B, 162 C, and 129 D schools.

West Karbi Anglong district has four educational blocks: Amri, Chinthong, Rongkhang, and Socheng, with a total of 718 schools and 42,201 students. There were 208 schools in grade A+, 146 in grade A, 112 in grade B, 112 in grade C, and 140 in grade D.
