Elon Musk finds Twitter’s new NFT profile picture feature ‘annoying’
Dimapur, Jan. 21 (EMN): Twitter just released a new feature that lets its iOS users to showcase non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as their profile pictures, however, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is apparently not a fan.
Musk took to Twitter to express his opinion about Twitter’s new NFT profile picture feature.
“This is annoying,” Musk tweeted on Friday. “Twitter is spending engineering resources on this while crypto scammers are throwing a spambot block party in every thread!?”

The new feature is currently available only for Twitter Blue subscribers on iOS. The company confirmed that its developers were already working on a similar feature for its Android and web users.
Twitter displays the new NFT profile pictures in a hexagonal format unlike the circular profile pictures that normal users are accustomed to.
The microblogging platform said that users would be able to just click on the NFT profile picture to see the meta-data associated with it including details like ownership, artist and collection.
NFTs are digital assets that are stored on a blockchain like Ethereum, Cardano and Solana. These NFTs can be used to represent digital items like audio, photos and video. It can also be used to represent real-world assets like identity and real-estate.
It may be mentioned that Musk is a huge proponent of cryptocurrency and has confirmed in multiple interviews that he holds Bitcoin and Ethereum among others in his portflio. However, his recent opinions on NFT’s are puzzling to say the least as NFT’s are one of the most popular use cases of blockchain technology.
