Electronic Skill Centre to be set up at Shillong
Shillong, Aug. 9 (PTI): The 22nd National Conference on e-governance on Friday adopted a resolution to set up an Electronic Skill Centre here, officials said. The resolution to set up the Electronic Skill Centre here is part of the 10-point Shillong Declaration adopted during the second-day of the conference.
“We are mooting to set up the electronic skill centre in Shillong operationalised by the electronic skill council to create employment opportunities and skill upgradation for the youths of the state,” joint secretary in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, V Srinivas told media persons here.
He said, “It was found that Reliance Jio alone outsourced 50,000 jobs and digital technicians can be developed within six months time. In view of this, we adopted this resolution.”
The Shillong Declaration also asked for promotion and use of e-office and move towards less paper secretariats in the north-eastern states and in the district level offices.
“The quality of delivery of e-services in the north east should be improved to fulfil the vision of improved citizen experience and to take steps to further improve connectivity in the north eastern states by addressing the Issues and challenges of telecom connectivity at grass root level and formulate and implement a comprehensive telecom development plan,” the resolution said.
The conference also resolved that the Centre and state governments should promote timely implementation of India Enterprise Architecture (IndEA) and Implement a single sign-in for Interoperability and Integration among e-government applications throughout the country.
Union minister Jitendra Singh and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday inaugurated the two-day 22nd National Conference on e-Governance here.
