The Interim Office Bearers of the Nagaland Press Association (NPA) constituted a 3-member Election Commission on November 15, 2013 with the responsibility of conducting free and fair elections of the Nagaland Press Association. Accordingly the Election Commission has decided to conduct elections for the Executive Committee on December 18, 2013. The decision was issued in a press release states elections will be held for the offices of president, vice-president, general secretary, joint secretary and finance secretary.
The Election Comission also states that a brochure of the “Rules and Procedures for the Election” as well as ‘Nomination Petition” will facilitate a transparent and free and fair elections.
The brochure provides the basic information pertaining to eligibility of voters, candidates and the due process to be followed during the elections.
The release adds that interested NPA members are requested to collect the brochure from the office of The Morung Express, House No 4, Duncan Bosti, Dimapur.
The process of nomination began after the General Body Meeting on November 27, 2013 and will continue to remain open until 5:00pm on December 10, 2013.
The Election Commission urges all members of the Nagaland Press Association to participate in this process and to elect their Executive Committee, so that they can with greater responsibility and determination work towards the realization of the aims and objectives of the Nagaland Press Association, the release added.
