The deputy commissioner (DC) and district election officer (DEO) of Zunheboto, Bhanudas Mali, said election is a festival of democracy and urged the people to celebrate the election peacefully without any violence.
The DC was addressing a one-day seminar on Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) on clean election held at multipurpose cultural hall, Zunheboto, on February 16, a DIPR report stated.
Mali acknowledged various organisations and villages who have pledged to a clean and fair election and for giving support to the administration and the Election Commission of India. He also cautioned that on the day of the election, no private vehicles would be allowed to ply from one place to another without proper authorisation from the administration.
“This is to prevent proxy voting and double voting and also to check any form of illegal attempt to disturb the election process,” Mali said.
Linovi Kiba, first runner-up of Miss Sumi 2022 and the SVEEP icon for Zunheboto district, said people have the power to choose the right leaders for a better tomorrow.
She said, “Electoral participation is the most essential for our community’s growth and if we dutifully carry it out, our society will witness a revival and we will be able to navigate our future towards a brighter end.”
EVM hands-on demonstration was presented by AEO Zunheboto. (Dimapur, EMN)
