CHIEPHOBOZOU, OCTOBER 6

BJP today held a public rally to woo the electorate of 30 villages under Northern Angami-II Assembly constituency to elect its official candidate Visasolie Lhoungu in the upcoming bye-election scheduled for October 15. The rally was held at Chiephobozou local ground.
BJP National Spokesperson and MLA from Bihar Rameshwar Prasad Chaurasia while wooing the electorate said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi was invited by American President Barack Obama while leaders from China and Japan and other foreign countries have also appreciated his leadership, therefore cannot the people of Northern Angami-II constituency elect BJP candidate in the October 15 bye-election for him.”
Chaurasia said this is the first time that a bye-election is held in Nagaland after Modi became the PM, and therefore it will be a gift from the people of the State for him and added that the State too needs development and progress.
He asserted that once BJP candidate is elected, Modi who has a concern for the people of the State will surely bring about more development and progress to the State.
Nagaland being a resource crunch State without any industries, technical institutions and also lacking in sporting infrastructure, Chaurasia asserted that all such developmental process would see the light of the day only in Modi government.
He said corruption is responsible for hampering development and the Modi government is gradually taking steps to stop all types of corruption so that the country can march forward with all round development.
BJP will work for solution of Naga issue: Tapir Gao
Addressing the mammoth gathering, BJP National Secretary in-charge of Nagaland and ex-MP Tapir Gao said the NA-II bye-election will be an acid taste for the constituency as this would be turning point between the State and central relationship.
He said the bye-election will be an index for Nagas to get closure and maintain better relationship with PM for development and progress.
Pointing that the development money for the State comes from the Central government, he tried to entice the electorate of NA-II not to worry even if State government ignores development of the constituency after election as they would have a direct link with Centre without crossing Kohima if they elect BJP candidate.
He also asserted that once the BJP candidate is elected, the BJP would work towards bringing about solution to the vexed Indo-Naga political issue. He said Narendra Modi is a true leader with political will and power, who would work towards finding solution to the Naga political problem. “Naga people should elect more BJP MLAs so that they can together take up the issue of development and political solution of Naga issue,” he said.
“The bye-election is one such opportunity and it should not be missed,” Gao quipped while adding that Visasolie will be the ambassador and bridge between the Centre and State for Naga people.
State BJP leader and Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Information & Public Relations Paiwang Konyak said Nagaland is presently facing huge financial crisis and without the support of a national party the State cannot survive. He said electing BJP candidate would strengthen the hands of the State government. He further stated that despite being ally in the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland, both the brothers (BJP and NPF) are contesting against each other. Nevertheless, if a national party is ignored it would not ‘resemble good’ in Delhi, he said.
Nagaland BJP president Dr. M. Chuba Ao blamed Rio for his “double standards politics” in declaring that the bye-election is not a friendly contest between alliance partners as both have different political ideologies. Chuba expressed confidence that the BJP will surely emerge winner as it has fielded the best candidate in the form of Visasolie Lhoungu. Dr. Chuba also released an album of BJP Band for electioneering purpose.
Help me to help you: Visasolie
“My victory is your victory and hence, if elected, I will ensure that the various public welfare funds are made accessible to the rural masses and deserving youth get the opportunity for gainful employment,” BJP official candidate Visasolie Lhoungu said while appealing the electorate to cast their vote for him.
Pledging to support the youth in availing various flagship programmes meant for the youth and to promote entrepreneurship and setting up of training centres for rural based youth, he appealed to the electorate to give BJP a chance to develop the constituency into an exemplary constituency.
“BJP as a party has a clear cut agenda for the rural people especially with programmes exclusively aimed at uplifting rural areas through prioritized and integrated development plans and provision of urban amenities for rural areas while retaining the soul of the village,” he said.
“This falls in line with my personal vision of working for the welfare of the people in bringing development to the community and progress that has to take place from the grassroots level,” he said.
Lhoungu said the decision to contest the upcoming bye-election was made out of his desire to work for the welfare of the downtrodden and weaker sections of the constituency.
Urging the electorate to “help him to help them”, Lhoungu said, “The constituency faces problems in various sectors such as lack of infrastructure, mass unemployment and lack of basic training centers to facilitate entrepreneurship. Our constituency is suffering from poverty and corruption has hampered the progress of the constituency and therefore, the remedy and need of the hour is to bring about transformation by electing the BJP into power. Only then can our constituency come at par with the others.”
Nagaland BJP spokesman and state executive member Dr. K. Hoshi tendered the vote of thanks.
