Elangbam Dwijamani Singh takes oath as MLA

[dropcap]N[/dropcap]ewly elected congress candidate Elangbam Dwijamani Singh of Hiyanglam constituency was sworn in as MLA today. The Speaker Th Lokeshor of the Manipur state legislative administered the oath taking ceremony at the conference hall of the Assembly in this afternoon.
Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi, Education Minister Moirangthem Okendra, Commerce and Industries minister Govindas Konthoujam, Rural development minister Francis Ngajokpa, Deputy Speaker Preshaw Shimray, Parliamentary Secretaries and MLAs of Congress Party attended the swearing in ceremony.It may be mentioned that Dwijamani beat his nearest rival all Indian Trinamool congress candidate Dr Y Radheshyam in the October 17 by poll of the assembly constituency.Meet on ILPS held: The core committee meeting of the joint political parties of the Inner Line Permit System (ILPS)was held today with the state chief minister Minister O Ibobi at the chief minister’s secretariat in Imphal.
The meeting discussed the issues relating to the finding of the committee in the recent past in connection with the implementation of ILPS in the state. Reports said the final recommendation of the committee will be tabled after the proposed visit to some other states which have been following the new law, is completed.
Speaking to the media on the side line of the day’s MLA Dwijamani swearing in ceremony at Manipur Legislative Assembly Conference hall, chief minister Ibobi said the government of Manipur wanted to enact a new law to safeguard the indigenous population. But it cannot be enacted without checking the pros and cons of the proposed law and act. Besides the law enacted by the assembly requires Governor’s consent before implementation. Things have to be on the right direction. It should not go against the constitution. That’s why the committee has been taking view and comments various walks of life including the constitutional experts, lawyers, judges and law makers etc.
However Chief Minister did not give any tentative time frame for the implementation of law saying that it will be implemented within shortest possible time.
